OEE management is a powerful method for increasing plant productivity. Despite the fact that the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) indicator has existed since the 1980s, only a small amount of high-quality literature on the subject has been published in German. The book “Increasing plant productivity through OEE management” by Dr. Markus Focke and Jörn Steinbeck aims to contribute to the understanding and dissemination of the methodology.

The Essential uses practical examples to explain how the plant productivity of manufacturing companies can be increased by introducing OEE management. The authors provide an easy-to-understand definition of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) that can be used in all industries. They provide implementation-oriented process suggestions for the introduction of OEE management in companies. The reader receives specific information on how to record the key figure and the causes of loss of plant productivity. Both manual recording and the application of Industry 4.0 technology are discussed. The OEE is a management tool for the structured, continuous improvement process (CIP) of plant productivity. Finally, there is a procedure for the financial evaluation of the OEE increases achieved.
