Cookie Counting: Counting Chocolate Bars with Computer Vision
The recording shows one lane of a confectionery line between the cooling tunnel and the packaging machine. A camera above the conveyor captures the bars; an object detection model and a tracker handle detection and tracking, a counting line handles the count.
The overlay shows the detected objects with their tracking IDs, the counting zone that limits detection to a single lane, and the counting line. Every bar is counted exactly once, as soon as its centre point crosses the line, even when the belt stops or reverses briefly.
How two such counting points produce a scrap rate, and with it the OEE quality factor, is described in the article Camera-Based Piece Counting to Determine the Quality Factor.
